Njord’s FAQs on air purification
Here, we have put together some of the most frequently asked questions about our air purification solutions.
Clean Air Delivery Rate, CADR, is the industry standard for measuring improvements in air quality and describing the airflow and filtering efficiency of an air purifier. CADR = The product of how much air the air purifier treats per hour and what proportion of the total particles are caught in the filter over time. It is important to be familiar with this concept when comparing air purifiers. Read about how to pick the right air purifier here!
We measure air using a particle counter that indicates the number of particles in the air, all the way down to the tiniest and most harmful particles for humans (PM1) where we find matter such as bacteria, viruses and allergens. The particle counter measures as much air as a human breathes in under a minute. Read more about particles here!
Our air purifiers capture all types of particles, in all sizes: PM10: Pollen, fine dust and larger organic particles etc. PM2.5: Mould spores, bacteria, ash and dust mite allergens etc. PM1: Viruses, bacteria, smoke and combustion particles etc. Read more about particles here!
Our flexible, industrial air purification systems are configured for all types of indoor environments where there are problems with dust and particles. For example we work with companies involved in warehousing and logistics, workshops and industrial processes, and recycling and waste management, as well as sensitive environments like healthcare and also offices, shops, hotels, public spaces and schools. We create clean and healthy indoor environments that protect people, products, machines and processes, regardless of sector or specific needs.
Our filters are Made in Sweden and are certified quality filters that guarantee separation efficiency over time. We choose filters based on our customers’ specific needs, circumstances and aims, using filters up to category HEPA 14. All filters comply with ISO16890 of EN1822. You can read more about our filters for industrial air purifiers here!
How often you need to change the filter depends on how much dust and how many particles there are in your premises, but usually you should be swapping out your filter every 3, 6 or 9 months. In addition, all our air purifiers are fitted with an alarm system that indicates if the filter needs changing earlier than planned. Read more about our filters for air purifiers here!
All our air purifiers satisfy the requirements for ceiling installation around existing sprinkler systems. Meaning they can be positioned exactly where they will have the greatest effect without interfering with the sprinkler system at all. Read more about our air purifiers here!
Effective, industrial air purification creates a healthy work environment, smooth operations and reduced costs for illness-related absences, machine maintenance, heating and cleaning. Read more about how you can reduce your costs with clean air here!
Njord Constant Flow™ – constant flow control – is the recommended operating setting for Njord industrial air purifiers that ensures a constant high level of air purification over time. Read more about Njord Constant Flow™ here!
Our air purifiers capture all types of particles in their quality filter, including air-borne bacteria and viruses such as COVID-19. Air purifiers fitted with UV-C (optional) also eliminate harmful micro-organisms, minimising the risk of infection by up to 90%. Read more about our industrial air purifiers here!
Our air purifiers can be installed on ceilings or walls, or placed on the floor and connected to a standard power outlet, meaning installation is often quick and easy, with minimal strain on your building’s structure. Plus, all our air purifiers satisfy the requirements for sprinkler systems, meaning they can be installed without the need for any costly adjustments to your existing sprinkler system. Installations are scheduled for times that suit our customers. Read more about our air purifiers here!
UV-C is an optional extra available for all our air purifiers and means that air will be treated with ultraviolet light to eliminate up to 99.999% of harmful microorganisms, viruses and bacteria. UV-C is a technology developed by NASA and is frequently employed in healthcare for sterilisation. It is most often used to protect employees, customers and visitors from infections or to protect processes from contamination. Read more about UV-C for air purifiers here!
Njord Safe-Zone™ is a unique air purification application which creates clean and healthy zones where the air has been filtered and sterilised for harmful particles before being distributed within a defined area – exactly where you want it. Read more about Njord Safe-Zone™ here!
Njord Connect™ allows you to operate, control and program your Njord air purifiers wirelessly via WiFi and Bluetooth for optimised operation, servicing and maintenance. Read more about Njord Connect™
You can eliminate bad smells and odours quickly and effectively by fitting your air purifier with Njord Ionisation (optional). Ionisation is compatible with all our air purifiers. Read more about Njord Ionisation for air purifiers here!
In order to pick the right air purification system, it’s important that you compare relevant features of the different solutions. The most important feature you need to understand is the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) so that you can check each air purifier’s clean airflow/sec. = CADR. Beyond that, there are many other parameters that are important in the selection process, such as whether the air purifier has constant flow control and an alarm function, whether it satisfies the requirements for sprinkler systems and whether it is fitted with certified filters and so on. We have put together a guide with a checklist of what aspects it’s a good idea to think about when choosing air purifiers and providers. You can find the guide here!
